Morpheus8 (RF microneedling) and Radiesse (Dermal Filler) for Skin Rejuvenation
Normal Aging Process
Over time, the changes in our structure cause changes in our appearance which we call aging.
Skin: Our skin gets thinner, produces less collagen, and decreases in elasticity, resulting in our skin sagging and the appearance of wrinkles due to volume loss. Since collagen production slows down, our elastin and hyaluronic acid infrastructure are depleted, leading to volume loss.
Fat: As collagen production decreases, the facial fat pads start to redistribute within the face. For example, the forehead and cheek fat pads will lessen resulting in volume loss and redistribute to around the mouth or jaw. This is why folds around the mouth and jowls become more prominent.
Bone: Over time the bones recess in the face which leads to volume loss. This bone loss removes the structural support for the tissues on top of it. This results in less defined cheekbones, softened jawlines, hollow eyes, and sagging in the neck.
Why Combination Skin Treatments Are Important
For the most natural rejuvenation of the face, all changes that result from the aging process should be corrected. Aging is a result of several types of changes occurring in all five facial anatomical layers: skeleton, ligaments, muscles, adipose tissue, and skin.
To target the structural effects of aging, combined intervention is required to relax, volumize, resurface, and rejuvenate facial skin. No single technology, filler, or neuromodulator can achieve all the results desired in treating the aging face (Fabi et al., 2017).
The different options include: Neurotoxin (Botox, Xeomin, Dysport) to relax the muscles that induce wrinkles, Dermal Filler (Restylane, Radiesse) to replace the volume loss of bone and fat, Radio Frequency Micro-needling (Morpheus8) to improve collagen loss and skin texture.

What is Morpheus8? What results and recovery/timeline?
Morpheus8 is a cutting-edge treatment that uses microneedling and radiofrequency technology to improve the overall appearance of the skin.
Morpheus8 is a non-surgical treatment that uses a handheld device to deliver microneedling and radiofrequency energy to the skin. The device has fine needles that create micro-injuries in the skin, triggering the body’s natural healing response. At the same time, the radiofrequency energy heats the underlying tissues, stimulating the production of collagen and elastin, two proteins that are essential for healthy, youthful-looking skin.
Treats: Fine lines and wrinkles, uneven skin tone, uneven skin texture, Sagging skin, Dimpling of skin, Cellulite, Scarring and/or discoloration of the skin
The treatment can be customized to target specific areas of the face and body, making it a versatile option for addressing a variety of concerns. Morpheus8 is relatively quick and painless, with most sessions taking less than an hour to complete after numbing for up to an hour. There is minimal downtime or recovery time needed afterward.
After your treatment, you may experience some redness and swelling in the treatment area, but these side effects should resolve anywhere from a few hours to a few days depending on the part of the body that has been done. We apply microbial cleanser and restorative serum that will boost healing prior to you leaving the office. You can use gentle moisturizer and sunscreen to help soothe and protect your skin on the same day of treatment. We recommend refraining from touching the area and applying generous amounts of moisturizer to help with redness and comfort. We will also instruct you to use a gentle moisturizer for the next 7 days as the area is healing. If done on your face, you should be makeup free for 24-48 hours.
What is Radiesse? What results and recovery/timeline?
Calcium hydroxylapatite, or CaHA, is what makes Radiesse unique as an injectable aesthetic treatment. It’s the first and only CaHA portfolio available that provides both immediate, natural-looking results and long-term improvement.
CaHA particles then integrate into your skin and create a “scaffold” that stimulates collagen and elastin production.
Formed collagen and elastin replaces the correction provided by Radiesse, smoothing lines and promoting renewed skin structure.
Another reason why Radiesse is unique is that it’s specially formulated to treat areas on the face, neck, decolletage, abdomen, thighs, and hands. This allows more areas to be treated where you may have concerns with more immediate results.
The recovery/downtime is very minimal as you can return to your day-to-day activities with only a few restrictions such as not exercising for 24 hours after injections and limiting sun exposure.
Why both?
Combining these two treatments allows the dermal filler to replace the volume loss of bone and fat while the Morpheus8 improves collagen loss and skin texture. Treating both concerns at the same time will provide more substantial results that last more long-term.
